The Knowledge behind Running Track for the Olympics

At Olympic events and international athletic events more and more athletic records have been broken over time. Apart from the training factor and the athlete's increasingly competent readiness, there is one more factor that supports the breaking of these records: Running Track Technology.

Modern running tracks really help the performance of professional running athletes. This is what differentiates when amateur and professional athletes compete in competitions. Amateur athletes who train on paved roads rely more on the resilience of their running shoes to increase resilience and momentum when running. In professional athletic fights apart from the athlete's physique and shoes, the resilience presented by a modern running track really helps runners to maximize their speed. With the level of acceleration, jumping and various other physical activities with high intensity, athletes need a quality running track with the appropriate resilience and grip to avoid injury.

ACTION AND REACTION

Running is basically a series of controlled foot hits against the ground.

When the athlete takes a step against the track, each muscle of the foot performs an action that is channeled through the friction between the shoe and the stroke. Isaac Newton's 3rd law states that every action will cause the same reaction. This means that when the athlete's foot and shoe hit the ground the running track responds in the same way as the energy expended. This is what makes athletes move forward. This force is often called the ground reaction force

So that a suitable ground surface is a surface that has absorbency such as a shock breaker in a car to reduce foot injury and at the same time has a strong and stable spring force so that athletes can push their leg power to run more optimally.

Because of this action and reaction a running track is required that has a material that is not too hard and not too soft.

POLYMER and URETHANE

An important material for a modern running track or track is polymer. Polymer is a material commonly found in plastics, rubber and glue. Polymers have thousands of atomic molecules that allow polymers to be combined with other materials without losing their elasticity. This makes the polymer a very malleable material. This convenience makes the polymer a material that has shock absorption and resilience that can be adjusted according to the needs of running tracks for Olympic standards.

To answer this challenge, Datra has a product for the Herculan running track which is made of polyurethane which is a combination of polymer and urethane material. This combination makes this material fire resistant and has a level of elasticity suitable for international running track conditions. Datra himself has experience in installing Herculan running tracks in several major Indonesian stadiums. Herculan products already have certification from the International Athletic Agency (IAAF) and have met Olympic standards so they are often used in international athletic events.
