What is the Mini Soccer Field Size?

Although not much different, there are several things that make the difference between international and national standard mini soccer field sizes. The following are some of the differences.

International Standard Mini Soccer Field Size

The World Minifootball Federation (WMF) has set the international mini soccer field size standard. Quoted from the official WMF page, some of these things need to be considered in making a mini soccer field.

Field dimensions for international matches:

  • Side line length (touchline): 46-50 meters.
  • Goal line length: 26-30 meters.

Penalty area:

  • Two lines 5 meters from each goal post, extending 7 meters into the field, and connected by a line parallel to the goal line 14 meters long.
  • The penalty mark is 7.5 meters from the midpoint between the goalposts.

Corner area:

  • A quarter circle with a radius of 0.5 meters from each corner flagpole.
  • A minimum 1.5 meter high flagpole is placed at each corner.

Wicket:

  • Located at the center of each goal line, consisting of two vertical posts and a horizontal bar.
  • The distance between the goal posts is 4 meters, the height of the crossbar from the ground is about 2 meters.
  • The goalposts and crossbar must be white and have the same width and depth, maximum 12 cm.
  • If the crossbar is damaged, the game is stopped until it is repaired or replaced.

National Standard Mini Soccer Field Size

In Indonesia, mini soccer is under the auspices of the Indonesian Mini Soccer Federation (FSMI) which has been formed since 2016. Although there are slight variations, these standards are still in line with international guidelines.

The length of the national level mini soccer field is around 60 meters while the width is 40 meters. The size of the area or penalty area has a size of 12 meters x 13 meters, with the distance of the penalty kick point 9 meters from the goal line. Meanwhile, the size of the mini soccer goal in Indonesia is about 2 meters high and 5 meters wide.

Differences and Similarities

Although there are some minor differences between national and international standards, the basic principles and objectives of mini soccer standards remain the same. The main goal is to ensure fair, exciting and safe play for all players. The few differences that do exist are usually tailored to a country's field conditions and the specific needs of the local soccer community.

Differences in the size of the penalty area, for example, reflect the need for adjustments on smaller pitches. Likewise, variations in field length and width indicate the flexibility needed to accommodate different locations and available facilities.

Benefits of Standardization

The standardization of mini soccer field sizes, both at the national and international levels, provides several benefits, including:

Consistent play

Standardization ensures that mini soccer games can be played with consistent rules and sizes, allowing for fair competition.

Ease of field management

Standardization makes it easier for field managers to design and maintain facilities that comply with regulations.

Talent development

With consistent standards, players can better develop their skills as they play under the same field conditions.

So, both national and international standardized mini-soccer field sizes play an important role in ensuring a fair and exciting game. While there are some minor variations between national and international standards, the basic principle of both remains the same, which is to create an optimal playing environment for players.

By understanding and following these standards, you can help advance the sport of mini-soccer at various levels, from local communities to international competitions.
