Stadium Renovation in Indonesia
December 1, 2020

In welcoming the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2021 in Indonesia, the PUPR Ministry plans to renovate six stadiums to become the main venues. The selected stadiums were Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium (Palembang, South Sumatra), Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (Jakarta), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung, West Java), Manahan Stadium (Solo, Central Java), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya, East Java) and Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium (Gianyar, Bali).
Datra himself has been involved in renovating the Manahan Stadium in 2019 and also the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium during the 2018 Asian Games. We also just finished renovation in Gelora Bung Tomo. We are very proud that these stadiums have become the main choices for the U20 World Cup match later.
In addition to these stadiums, FIFA also asked Indonesia to prepare a supporting field that meets FIFA standards for the training of the national team that will compete later in U20. For this matter, PSSI and the Ministry of PUPR proposed several options, namely:
The Palembang cluster consists of the Jakabaring 1 Athletic Stadium (Palembang), the Jakabaring Archery Field, and the Jakabaring Baseball Field (Palembang). Then, the Bandung cluster includes the Sidolig Stadium (Bandung), the Jatinangor Institute of Domestic Administration Field (Sumedang), and the Jati Padjadjaran Field (Sumedang).
Then, the Surakarta cluster includes Sriwedari Stadium (Surakarta), West City Field (Surakarta), Banyuanyar Field (Surakarta), and Sriwaru Field (Surakarta). The Bali cluster includes the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Stadium (Denpasar), the Gelora Trisakti Stadium (Badung), the Kompyang Sujana Stadium (Denpasar), and the Gelora Samudra Stadium (Badung). Finally, there is the Surabaya cluster, namely the Gelora Bangkalan Stadium in Bangkalan Regency.
We believe that the renovation of this sports facility will become a development and progress of sports in Indonesia. We hope that the plan and implementation will run smoothly and successfully.
