Ismail Marzuki Park is an arts center located in the center of Jakarta, precisely in the Cikini area. Taman Ismail Marzuki or often abbreviated as TIM was built in June 1968 and inaugurated in November 1968 by the Governor of Jakarta, Ali Sadikin. There is something interesting about this development, namely, first, the land used for TIM was the former Cikini Zoo but because it was deemed unsuitable in 1966 Cikini Zoo was moved to the Ragunan area and became the Ragunan Wildlife Park until now. Second, in its early construction due to financial conditions, almost all buildings in TIM used semi-permanent buildings and the work was accelerated to completion in just 5 months. But after that gradually other facilities were built. In Taman Ismail Marzuki itself there are several building complexes, namely:
- Planetarium Jakarta: Planetarium and Observatory Jakarta is the oldest sky simulation vehicle in Indonesia in Indonesia
- Small Theatre/ Studio Theatre: This approximately 200-seat theater is intended for smaller, more intimate theatrical performances, or music.
- Graha Bakti Budaya: This legendary opera theater has a capacity of 811 and is often used for theatrical performances or musical operas on a colossal scale.
- Copyright Gallery 1,2,3: Place for exhibitions of paintings and works of art.
- HB Jassin Library: A library that has a large collection of artistic manuscripts, such as theater scripts or books, to quite complete musical scores.
- Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ): One of the most famous art colleges in Indonesia. IKJ has produced many artists as well as homeland celebrities from various fields ranging from actors, actresses, directors to famous musicians in Indonesia.
- Jakarta Theater: It is the largest Theater Building in the TIM area. 1200 capacity and has 3 levels. This building was built in the 2010s and is intended to replace the aging Graha Bakti Budaya. Already of international standard, this building is often used for international shows as well as classical concerts or colossal theatres.
In 2019, the government carried out a total renovation of the TIM area. The TIM area will use a lot of green building concepts that are environmentally friendly and almost all of its facilities and buildings will be renovated to meet international standards as well as building renovations. One of the highlights of the renovation is the capacity of the seats in each theater and supporting facilities. To meet international requirements, high quality auditorium or theater chairs are needed, the Datra team is ready to meet this need.
