Education, Technology

The Covid-19 pandemic challenges us to continue to be creative in various fields, one of which is in the education sector. Skidmore, Owings & Merill (SOM) answered the challenge by creating a pop-up school called School / House. This innovation is inspired by a class system that must comply with health protocols, namely maintaining distance, health and safety during a pandemic.
Having high ceilings, outdoor views, high air circulation, and easy cleaning and integrated with technology in teaching and learning, this School / House design is very suitable for use in cities and rural areas without having to compromise the health of students and teachers.
This design consists of 7 flat, foldable panels that can be installed quickly and easily. Measuring approximately 11x13 meters, this room can accommodate 25 students with a distance of 1.8 meters to meet the CDC version of the distance keeping criteria, or 50 students for ordinary classes. This class design has a shape like a house on stilts so that it provides lots of air circulation for this room.
