Post COVID-19 Public Spaces

In the midst of the new normal conditions in the COVID-19 pandemic, public space in various countries including Indonesia has become a need that looks luxurious. In the past, during normal conditions, maybe we could easily go to sports fields, airports, parks, workplaces to theaters. However, in the midst of this pandemic, how can you keep open public spaces beneficial while preventing the spread of COVID-19?

PUBLIC OPEN SPACE STILL NEEDED

In various countries that are starting to try to live 'side by side' with the COVID-19 situation, efforts to re-open open public spaces such as sports fields, markets to schools have become their own needs and challenges. This is because economic and social activities such as education, which had been halted for almost half a year due to COVID-19, must be restarted immediately so that there is no further economic and social crisis. The challenges of COVID-19 in opening up their own public spaces can now be overcome by the following:

  • Social Distancing: According to WHO, by providing a distance of about 1-2 meters, the risk of transmitting COVID-19 can be reduced. In several public spaces such as theaters, this strategy is now starting to be implemented in the market. For example, in the cinema, each seat is given one empty seat so that people can do social distance. The Datra team itself answered this by making a new chair product, namely a special waiting chair that has complied with social distance.
  • Use of Masks: Masks are the most important shield for each individual to reduce the potential for the spread of COVID-19. Medical masks that have at least 3 layers can prevent particles and bacteria from entering from the outside and also prevent particles from our mouths from spreading outside when we are sneezing or coughing.
  • Thermal Gate and Face Detection Facilities: The presence of a Thermal Gate facility that is able to detect body temperature and also Face Detection which is also able to detect temperature and check whether people are wearing masks or not can reduce the risk of people who are in unhealthy condition to visit public places.

POST COVID-19

Post-COVID-19, according to several research by epidemiologists and urban planning policies, maybe in a few years after COVID-19 the above regulations are still needed to minimize the risk of new outbreaks of COVID-19. However, experts also consider that the lockdown situation is unlikely to be permanent. Humans as social beings still need direct interaction with other humans for economic and social activities that require access to open public spaces. Datra is ready to help all public spaces in Indonesia to answer this COVID-19 challenge.
