How to Test Synthetic Grass

Based on the FIFA standardization program called the FIFA Quality Program for Football Turf, there are 2 main steps that must be carried out in testing synthetic grass until it gets official certification according to its level.
First, laboratory tests. Here the synthetic grass is tested for the quality of the grass and its layers, such as the rubber infill layer. This laboratory test also includes testing the quality of the ball's reflection and then testing its resistance to weather through an artificial weather machine. In addition, there are also shockpads tests carried out in the lab to find out whether the layer under the turf is still functioning properly if the artificial turf is replaced with a new one, and also to determine water absorption
After that the next stage is the field test, starting with the turf being installed in the field. In field tests, synthetic grass is not only seen visually, but also by the effect of the ball's reflection & roll. As well as the placement of sprinklers, goals and any items that can endanger players.
If the two tests meet the standards determined by FIFA, FIFA will determine the synthetic grass into the appropriate class.
This test applies if the synthetic grass has not been installed in the field. And, FIFA always recommends re-test periodically, which can be started from the second test, aka field tests.
